You have to understand. When I was a kid, no one seemed to think we were all going to become satanists just because of a mention of wizards and witches in a children’s book. So it should come as no surpirse that there was actually a board game that revolved around a seance. What made the game even more extraordinary though was the fact that it talked and instructed the players during the game. While that’s not a big deal now, back in the 70’s it might as well have been black magic!
The audio feat was accomplished by hiding a miniature record player inside the little seance table included with the game. When you rested your fingertips on the tabletop the voice of Uncle Everett told you to do something. Honestly, I forget exactly WHAT he told me to do or how the gameplay went. I think it had something to do with Uncle Everett’s will but it doesn’t matter since THE GAME FREAKIN’ TALKED.

Seance must have sold pretty well since Milton Bradley further refined the concept with a second game (which I got as well) called Voice of the Mummy. It was indeed a better game than Seance and by most accounts it was way more entertaining than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!

I found your site just searching around. I share the same memories for these games. I’ve spent a lot of time in creating a parts and repair site for everyone to enjoy.
